TOPIC: DR = Difficulty Rating?

DR = Difficulty Rating? 2 weeks 6 days ago #1

I've seen "DR" referenced several times, does that mean Difficulty Rating?

From the Player's Handbook "Your party needs to decide what difficulty level (sometimes called challenge rating or challenge mode) you want to run."

None of those result in a DR acronym but combining a couple could result in Difficulty Rating. Is DR the official designation now instead of Difficulty Level?

DR has been used recently for Difficulty Rating.

I'd rather it not be. DR is Damage Reduction and likely other things already. DL is not, to my knowledge, used for anything that matters.

Difficulty Level seems easier to grasp to me than Difficulty Rating. Like you, when I see DR I think Damage Resistance.

Yup - I find it confusing due to Damage Resistance too.

I think Jeff coined Difficulty Rating in the first posts about mythic this year - it bumped me when I read it.
